By now, everyone knows that Urmila Matondkar tied the knot a few days back with a Kashmiri businessman and model. The bride, Urmila wore a stunning red Sabyasachi lehenga. Continue reading
Trends change every season – from colours, to styles to what not! But when it comes to a wedding, most brides to be prefer to go in for traditional bridal lehengas. And why not? Most of us have grown up seeing our aunts and cousins wear beautiful red and pink bridal lehengas on their wedding day and it’s something a lot of us have dreamt about.
So without wasting anymore time, let’s jump right into it.
We start with this gorgeous Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla red and gold lehenga that Sonam wore at Bridal Fashion Week. We love the cleanliness of the embroidery! It’s heavy, but the design comes across so easily!
This is another one that caught our eyes. A classic, red bridal lehenga by AsoPalav.
Designer Soumitraa nails the red bridal lehenga, as well as the pink one.
Speaking of pink lehengas, we’ve got Suneet Verma and Jyotsna Twari giving us the quintessential pink bridal lehengas.
Gold or silver isn’t the only embroidery we see on bridal lehengas. There is a gorgeous in between too! Somewhere in the middle of the traditional gold and silver. Like we see on the lehenga below. (Courtsey Rohan Mishra Photography)
And when speaking about bridal lehengas, can we really not have Ritu Kumar and Tarun Tahiliani on the list?
So brides to be, what would be your pick?
After picking out the best Mehendi and Sangeet outfits for the bride from Amazon India Couture Week 2015 (read here), we come to the big guns for any bride – the wedding and reception!
Bridal Lehengas For The Wedding
If you are the one who wants to go regal, classic, and every bit bridal, these maroon and gold bridal lehengas would be just your things!
And if you love the regular bridal colours, but want to keep it a little lighter, these ones below are the ones for you!
If you are looking for something more on the unusual note, these lehengas by Monisha Jaising might be your cup of tea.
Or this blue gorgeous lehenga by Reynu Taandon
We’re also blown away by this beautiful, red, floral lehenga with a short jacket by Anju Modi!
And this Reynu Taandon Palazzo-Anarkali suit would be quite be quite a chic pick for Punjabi brides!
Reception Outfits For The Bride
If you still want to go traditional lehengas, these jacket lehengas are our pick.
And for those who want to retain the bridal-ness but want at the same time, break away from it, these lehengas offer the best of both the worlds. The work is traditional but the understated colours make for a refreshing change.
Annnnnd finally, we’re ending on a dramatic and super glamourous note with Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. These men really know how to work the bling.
Shahid Kapoor has tied the knot with Mira Rajput and we at That Chamkeela Stitch are lusting over his pretty bride’s outfits!
For the Mehendi/Sangeet, she wore a beautiful, yellow Anita Dongre lehenga.
We love the big ghera!
Coming to the wedding, we first came across this picture, which looks to be pooja, where it looks like she’s wearing a choodidar suit. We love the shade of green on the chudidaar.
Shahid then uploaded a pic of him and Mira on his Instagram account. Look at that gotta patti work on her dupatta!
For the reception that followed the wedding she wore a stunning pink lehenga that is absolutely gorgeous!
Designer Nishka Lulla tied the knot a few days back and we’re taking a look at her wedding wardrobe.
For Mehendi, she chose a yellow lehenga, which, we’ll be honest, was not something we’d pick at the first glance given the difficult to carry off silhouette. But one glance at her and we were in love! And are those butterflies on her lehenga? Love it!
For the Sangeet, Nishka went with a super bling-ey blue lehenga that would make anyone feel like a princess!
Take a look at this video where her lehenga is glitterinnnnng!
And coming to the big day, Nishka wore a pink lehenga with a pop of blue.
But what took our breaths away was the second dupatta which flowed like a dream behind her when she walked in.
What a gorgeous bride!
We’re having a Sabyasachi Sunday! So we’re putting down a few our our favourite outfits from one of our favourite collection!
One collection caught our eye at the Bangalore Fashion Week in an instant – Mandeep Liit’s bridal collection. The classic bridal colours – red, gold and pink have been extensively used and the designs are something we can all wear with ease. They are classic, and beautiful.
Different shades of red coupled with gold. Also, if you see the right most lehenga, it’s only the bottom bit that has heavy embroidery while the top of the lehenga is kept light. This is a great idea for brides who want to go all out, but want a more lighter lehenga.
Look at the ghera of this red lehenga? Perfect fit for the bride on her Sangeet, or if she’s really looking to go all out, at her Mehendi function.
Golden was used as a main colour too, in a lot of lehengas. Especially loving the one in the centre.
And when you’re talking about bridal lehengas, how can you possibly leave out pink? Digging that bright shade of pink on the left!
Bridal lehengas are the ultimate of Indian clothes. High time we did a post on them.
We’re going to start with a lehenga that almost instantly went viral the second the pictures came out. The blue Manish Malhotra lehenga that Deepika Padukone wore a few months back. It literally took our breath away.
At the same show where Deepika wore the above lehenga was another bridal lustworthy lehenga from Manish Malhotra. And it looks like a high waist one.
Then we come to a Jyotsna Tiwari lehenga. Such a lovely lehenga!
Next, we come to what Genelia D’Souza wore at a family member’s wedding. Though not the bride herself, this lehenga is a classic red, green and golden lehenga for the bride.
Preeti S. Kapoor too, presented a classic red and gold bridal lehenga a while back. Digging that shade of red.
Raageshwari Loomba recently got married and wore the most beautiful baby pink(ish) lehenga. So pretty!
Ok, that’s enough lust for the day!
A few weeks back, Karisma Kapoor did a shoot wearing some breathtakingly gorgeous golden Sabysachi lehengas.
Also, wouldn’t this make a perfect golden bridal lehenga?
