AICW ’15 – Inspiration For Sister/Best Friend Of The Bride/Groom

When you are a sister or best friend of the bride or groom, there is no better thing for the wedding wardrobe because you literally have the pass to be the next best dressed after the bride herself!

If you want to go for a more traditional silhouette, but still want to play up on the drama, here’s how to do it! You can either play up with colours and a fabric heavy lehengas, or lehengas which have work done on them, but smartly and minimally.

The Heroine Collection and Manish Malhotra

if you do want to go all out, we recommend keeping the colour non bridal and adding a touch of non-traditionalness to the outfit, like Manish Malhotra does with the lehenga below.

But if you really don’t want the bling, but still want to look wedding-worthy, Manish Malhotra shows us how, again! The flare of the skirt below more than makes up for the minimal work on it.

The wedding is also the perfect time to experiment with new trends and silhouettes and the current favourite is the cape!

Crop tops are also quite the rage and designers have been pairing them with slimmer lehengas. Super chic vibes.

And last but not the least, you know those floor length anarkalis and jacket lehengas always have your back!

LFW’15 Inspiraton – Summer Wedding – Sangeet & Wedding Outfits For The Sister Of The Bride

Moving on to sangeet and the wedding, here is some solid inspiration for the sister/best friend of the bride.

We’re starting with a floral lehenga from Sabyasachi’s latest collection. Love it!

Sabyasachi wasn’t the only one who brought on his floral game. Arpita Mehta brought it on too.

Anushree Reddy’s lehengas are always drool worthy! They yellow one is quite wedding worthy while the pink lehenga would be perfect for a sangeet.

If your family is chilled out, you can definitely consider being a vision in white with these three pretty white lehengas by Anamika Khanna, Anushree Reddy & Payal Singhal respectively.

Manish Malhotra is a designer who often goes big on bling, but he keeps things subtle in the lehenga below. However, the dreamy addition of net over the yellow fabric still ensures a “wedding worthy” feeling.

And our last outfit goes out to the sisters and friends who prefer anarkalis over lehengas. Crushing on this floral anarkali by Soumitra Marg.

LFW ’15 Inspiration – Summer Wedding – Mehendi Outfits For Sister Of The Bride

From the bride, we’re moving to the sister or even the best friend of the bride. This is easily the best position to be in. You get to look amazing, wear some seriously good clothes, be behind the scenes as well as be a legit part of the party.

Now getting to the point, Mehendi is something where the sister/best friend should ideally opt to wear something that is easily manageable because chances are, they will be the ones in charge.

Our first pick is this gorgeous purple and lavender lehenga/gown from Manish Malhotra. It’s light, flowey, colourful and most definitely manageable.

If you are looking to be in a territory that is somewhere between modern and traditional, this Shruti Sancheti lehenga is on point.

If you do however want to play up the drama because “eff absolute comforts, such weddings don’t come again,” this suit from the Harper Bazaar’s show is perfect!

The wedding season will soon be upon us and if you are a bride whose running behind schedule with her outfits, we’re bringing you some quick last minute inspiration in the coming few days, starting from today.

The first thing we’re starting with are the bridal outfits. It’s the smart thing to do to get this outfit sorted first. Winter weddings mean the bride can always splurge on a heavy lehenga, and we’re bringing you inspiration exactly along those lines.

We’re going to start with this epic Manish Malhotra lehenga. For the brides who want to go all out.

Manish Malhotra’s Pink Lehengas

There’s something about the way he makes them. The shades, the flare, the well thought of intricate details.

Shilpa Shetty’s Wardrobe In Nach Baliye 6

Nach Baliye 6 just got over and throughout the time the show ran, Shilpa Shetty blessed us with pictures on Twitter of her outfits. And we diligently sat and drooled.

We’ll start with a set of sarees that Shilpa is a master at wearing. Those super chic, fusion ones. She’s probably one of the very, very few people in the world who can carry it off and look so damn good in it. If you have a body like her, go ahead and this style. If you are like the rest of us who are blessed with not such great height and waist, a few modifications will be needed. But wouldn’t they look so good at Sangeet / Cocktail function at a wedding? Even the bride can wear these by opting for a similar style, but slightly heavier work.

Image

left to right – Shilpa Shetty in Shantanu and Nikhil, Sonakshi Raj, Sonakshi Raj, Amit Aggarwal, and Gaurav Gupta

Next we move on to the relatively more traditional sarees. Honestly, they all looks so good that it’s difficult to even pick a favourite among these.

Image

left to right – Shilpa Shetty in Manish Malhotra, Jerry, Masaba and unknown.

Shilpa Shetty also gave us a leopard print saree. It isn’t easy to carry this one of, but she does so with such style.

Image

Shilpa Shetty in Neeta Lulla

We also got two looks with no full lengths. We’re quite liking the orange saree’s colourful vibe. How perfect would this be for an afternoon mehendi. The second saree has a colour combination of green on green. Quite unusual and quite nice. This would be great to wear during the day or the night.

Image

She also gave us two sightings of gorgeous lehengas worn on the last and first episode.

Image

And we will end with two of our favourite looks from the whole season. Absolutely gorgeous! The white and gold saree is so elegant and the second saree had us at the pretty yellow. And wouldn’t this yellow saree be so perfect for the bride for her Mehendi function?
